“Home is where you hang your hat.”
~ Leon Redbone ~
Fashion, sports, education, occupation, military or personal style… it’s not one size fits all when it comes to hats. Some of the most famous people in the world are remembered for their headgear… Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln, Queen Elizabeth II, Jackie Kennedy, John Wayne, Charlie Chaplin, Fred Astair, Michael Jackson and I’ll even throw in Indiana Jones for bonus points.
They are versatile and multipurpose accessories worn for a host of reasons. They have enriched our society for centuries; even paintings dating back to 3200 BC reflect upper class Egyptians wearing conical straw hats to protect their shaven heads from the sun. Even Otzi the Iceman (circa 3250 BC) allegedly wore a bearskin cap in his day. His frozen mummy from the alps shows him donning a hat for both warmth & protection.
